5 Quick Protein Snacks

Over the years, life has become progressively busier. Whether it’s working overtime, family or friends, or extra curricular activities, the day is over before you know it. With this in mind, quick and easy doesn’t always have to mean fast food or junk. There are many healthy options that are available to you with very minimal prep time needed. More specifically, snacks that are going to give you the protein needed to rebuild muscles. I’m going to go over five of my go-to snacks when I need protein in between meals:
Tuna is a great snack because it’s easy to pack, whether in the can or in a container. With approx. 30 grams of protein per can, it can be dressed with various ingredients to suit anyone. It’s easy to mix a can of tuna with an avocado and some salt and pepper, and throw it in the fridge for the next day. Or if you’re in a time crunch, I’ll just eat it out of the can with some hot sauce. Either way, just as good.
2. HARD BOILED EGGS
Hard boiled eggs take a little bit of prep, but are well worth it. Each egg is packed with 6 grams of protein, and are a great two-bite snack for when you’re on the go. The great thing about eggs is that you can boil, shell, and store a decent amount of them for a day or two. If you’re on the go, toss a few in a container and you’re good.
3. PROTEIN SHAKE
Protein shakes require absolutely no prep at all. Just dump two scoops of MuscleTech® Protein in water and you’re good! Not only is it quick to make, but just as quick to get down. You can also add oats to your shake to up the carbs a bit. The great thing about a shake is that there is a variety of options to aid with allergies/intolerances, as well as flavor preferences. If you have time, you can usually toss two scoops of MuscleTech® Platinum Beef Protein with spinach and frozen berries in the blender.
4. BEEF JERKY
The thing about beef jerky is you can literally get it anywhere. Grocery stores, convenience stores, even gas stations and/or airports carry a wide variety of jerky. With approx. 40 grams of protein in a bag, it makes an awesome snack when you are in need of protein. The only thing I would watch for is the sodium. The original style is fairly high in sodium, so try to find one in the low-sodium variety.
Nuts are great because of the variety. Most people love almonds and cashews, so if you’re at the store pick some up to get you through the next day, especially if it’s going to be a busy one. With a good mix of protein and healthy fats, you really can’t go wrong with nuts. Just be aware of allergies in your surrounding.
